This is a hands-on accounting role with ownership of key pieces of our sales and accounts receivable functions, including customer invoicing, cash application, collections, customer and distributor deductions, trade spend, reconciliations, and inventory related accounting. We're looking for someone who enjoys digging into the details and figuring out the "why" behind the numbers. Whether it's tracking down an unexplained distributor deduction, reconciling product movement to an invoice, identifying a recurring issue, or finding a better way to manage a process, this position will play an important role in keeping our financial information accurate and our processes moving forward. You'll work closely with Sales, Production, Purchasing, Receiving, Operations, and company leadership, giving you visibility into how the entire business operates.

What You'll Own Sales & Accounts Receivable:

Manage key components of the company's accounts receivable and sales accounting processes, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and customer account maintenance. Prepare and review customer invoices and verify quantities against packing slips, shipping documentation, and other supporting records. Monitor outstanding receivables, maintain accurate AR aging, and follow up on unpaid balances. Research and resolve discrepancies between customer orders, product delivered, invoices, payments, and accounting records. Reconcile product sold to invoices, sales records, customer payments, and related accounting activity.

Customer & Distributor Deductions:

Research, validate, classify, reconcile, and resolve customer and distributor deductions. Review payments covering multiple invoices and identify the cause of differences between amounts invoiced and amounts received. Reconcile trade spend, including off-invoice allowances, scanbacks, billbacks, free fills, new-item programs, promotional allowances, spoils, and other deductions. Identify and dispute invalid, duplicate, unsupported, or incorrectly calculated deductions. Track outstanding deductions and disputes through resolution and maintain supporting documentation. Analyze recurring deductions and root causes and communicate findings and recommended improvements to Sales, Finance, and leadership.

Inventory & Accounting:

Support inventory reconciliation for raw materials, finished goods, and other inventory. Research inventory and product-costing discrepancies and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues. Perform account and subledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Maintain accurate accounting records and account classifications within QuickBooks. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities and routine financial reporting. Support quarterly inventory counts and other accounting compliance activities.

Process Improvements:

Identify opportunities to improve invoicing, AR, deduction management, inventory, reconciliation, and accounting processes. Recommend and help implement improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and accountability. Help establish and maintain consistent accounting procedures, documentation, and internal controls. Partner across departments to identify root causes and resolve recurring operational and accounting issues.

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, bookkeeping, or general accounting. Hands-on experience researching, reconciling, coding, and disputing customer or distributor deductions. Working knowledge of trade spend and common deduction types, such as allowances, scanbacks, billbacks, promotional programs, shortages, and spoils. Experience in food production, manufacturing, grocery, wholesale, distribution, multi-location operations, or another environment involving customer or distributor deductions. Experience with Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) is required. Professional experience using QuickBooks. Experience with accounting or ERP systems and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes. Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and AR processes. Strong Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets skills, including formulas, sorting/filtering, data analysis, and pivot tables. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify root causes. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of responsibilities through resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

An associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. Experience with inventory accounting, product costing, or inventory reconciliation. Experience managing product invoicing across multiple locations. Experience with automation or electronic payment platforms. Why Bonfire? At Bonfire Burritos, this role is more than working through an AR queue or focusing on one small piece of the accounting cycle. Our restaurant, wholesale/distribution, and food production operations create a unique accounting environment where sales, inventory, production, customer deductions, and day-to-day operations all connect. You'll have the opportunity to work across the business, build relationships with multiple teams, solve real accounting and operational challenges, and help improve the processes and systems we use as we continue to grow. We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, asks good questions, enjoys figuring out why something doesn't look right, and wants to be part of building strong accounting processes for the future.
