Full-Time Position Summary The Sales Designer / Management Trainee drives sales and delivers an exceptional customer experience in our retail showroom while developing the skills needed to advance into a Selling Manager role. This position manages the full sales process—from lead generation and customer discovery through design, ordering, delivery, and service. As you gain experience and demonstrate success, you'll take on additional responsibilities in showroom operations, employee coaching, sales leadership, and management. What You'll Do Sales & Customer Experience Greet customers, identify their needs, qualify sales opportunities, and guide them through the sales process. Build strong relationships with homeowners, contractors, and other customers. Conduct customer consultations and develop solutions based on customer needs, preferences, budget, and timeline. Travel to job sites to take measurements and gather information for design layouts. Create accurate kitchen and bath designs by hand or using design software. Prepare pricing, product selections, presentations, and supporting materials. Revise designs and presentations as needed to help close sales. Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and promptly follow up on leads, consultations, and presentations. Track sales opportunities and identify reasons projects are won or lost. Work toward established sales, margin, follow-up, and customer-service goals. Lead Generation & Business Development Generate new business through referrals, networking, community involvement, outreach, showroom events, and follow-up with past and prospective customers. Develop lead-generation activities, track results, and convert qualified leads into consultations and sales opportunities. Build and maintain a strong personal sales pipeline. Order & Customer Service Prepare and submit accurate cabinet orders for production. Initiate written job changes as needed. Review and audit cabinet order acknowledgements for accuracy. Follow orders through delivery and service to ensure an excellent customer experience. Work with design, production, delivery, installation, and service teams to resolve customer and operational issues. Leadership & Showroom Operations Develop a strong understanding of showroom operations, including staffing, sales-floor coverage, lead distribution, order flow, inventory, displays, and performance measures. Balance personal sales responsibilities with supporting the showroom team. Model effective selling behaviors, company standards, and customer-service expectations. Coach employees through observation, questions, and constructive feedback. Support employee onboarding and reinforce sales and customer-service processes. Communicate priorities and help reinforce accountability for follow-up and results. Serve as manager on duty when assigned. As proficiency and performance are demonstrated, take on increasing responsibility for daily showroom operations, including opening and closing procedures, lead assignment, sales-floor coverage, visual presentation standards, and team communication. Management Development Develop proficiency in management-level administrative and financial responsibilities. Learn and utilize QuickBooks. Learn commission calculations and reporting, invoice preparation and review, payment processing, account reconciliation, financial reporting, and related financial controls. Build the knowledge and leadership skills necessary to advance into a Selling Manager role. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required; additional vocational, college, or sales training preferred. Demonstrated success in consultative retail sales, showroom sales, design sales, or a related customer-facing environment. Experience with cabinetry, building products, home improvement, or interior design is preferred. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Excellent follow-up and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving and customer-service skills. Comfortable working toward sales and margin goals. Ability to create and present visual design concepts. Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software and business systems. Sound judgment and professionalism when resolving customer concerns. Interest and ability to develop into a role that coaches employees and supports daily showroom operations. Bachelor's degree and prior formal or informal leadership experience preferred.
