We are seeking an experienced, technically-minded Senior Chemical & Lubricant Sales and Account Manager / Team Lead to join our team. You will maintain and develop your own customer relationships and sales opportunities while providing day-to-day guidance, coordination, and support to a small sales team. The Opportunity This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, developing relationships, growing accounts, and helping a team achieve its goals . Many of our leads originate through our website and digital marketing efforts. The successful candidate should be comfortable managing inbound inquiries, following up persistently and professionally, developing opportunities, and moving prospects through a modern digital sales process. You will work closely with our technical, product development, customer service, and digital marketing teams while helping coordinate the activities of a small sales group. Small-Team Leadership As Team Lead, you will help provide day-to-day direction and support to a small team of sales professionals while continuing to manage your own accounts and sales responsibilities. Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to a small team of sales professionals. Help establish priorities, follow-up activities, and sales objectives. Assist team members with challenging customer situations, technical applications, pricing, and sales opportunities. Help develop and maintain consistent sales processes and CRM practices. Review sales activity, pipelines, opportunities, and forecasts with team members and management. Share successful sales approaches, product knowledge, and customer-development strategies with the team. Help onboard and train new sales team members. Encourage accountability for customer follow-up, lead development, and opportunity management. Coordinate with management on sales goals, market opportunities, and team performance. Serve as a resource and escalation point for customer and sales issues. Lead by example through strong customer relationships, responsiveness, technical knowledge, and sales performance. Key Sales & Account Management Responsibilities Develop and cultivate new business opportunities through inbound internet inquiries, prospecting, market research, referrals, trade shows, and industry contacts. Manage and grow an assigned customer base while identifying opportunities for increased sales and product expansion. Develop and execute account-growth strategies that support company and customer objectives. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, providing responsive and knowledgeable support. Understand customer applications, production processes, technical requirements, and pain points. Recommend appropriate chemical solutions from a broad portfolio of lubricants, solvents, coatings, release agents, cleaners, and specialty chemicals . Work closely with Technical and Product Development teams to identify and deliver solutions to customer challenges. Conduct product demonstrations, application evaluations, and customer trials. Help customers successfully integrate Miller-Stephenson products into their manufacturing processes. Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities within existing accounts. Respond quickly and professionally to customer inquiries and opportunities. Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and activity information in the company CRM. Monitor sales activity, forecasts, market trends, customer needs, and competitive developments. Provide regular market intelligence and sales forecasts to management. Collaborate with Marketing, Web, and Graphics teams on targeted sales and marketing initiatives. Provide feedback on customer needs, emerging applications, industry trends, and market opportunities. Negotiate pricing and commercial terms while maintaining strong customer relationships and company objectives. Participate in trade shows, industry events, customer visits, and other business-development activities. Travel approximately 5%, including customer visits, on-site product trials, and trade shows. What We're Looking For Required 5+ years of sales experience , preferably in an industrial, technical, chemical, manufacturing, or B2B environment. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships. Excellent communication, listening, follow-up, and negotiation skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities with excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple opportunities, customer requests, and team priorities simultaneously. Ability to work independently while also providing leadership and support to others. Strong problem-solving skills and a consultative approach to sales. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems. Willingness to travel approximately 10%. Leadership Experience Preferred Previous experience leading, mentoring, coaching, or supervising sales personnel . Experience managing a sales pipeline, forecasting, or reviewing sales activity. Ability to motivate and develop other salespeople while maintaining individual sales responsibilities. Experience establishing sales processes, account-development strategies, or performance goals. Previous experience serving as a team lead, senior sales representative, sales manager, or player-coach. Technical Background Preferred Educational background in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field . Experience with lubricants, specialty coatings, solvents, adhesives, cleaners, or other specialty chemicals. Experience selling to manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or industrial customers. Understanding of industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, or chemical applications. Experience conducting product demonstrations or customer trials. Experience with trade shows and industry events. Familiarity with digital lead generation, internet-based sales, and inbound marketing.
