Specialty importer and distributor of fine wine is seeking a highly motivated wine Sales Professional to join our team in Connecticut. The preferred territory for this role is within Hartford and Litchfield counties with additional potential along the eastern shoreline. This representative will inherit existing retail and restaurant accounts that have not been catered to consistently with significant opportunity across the underserved on

  • and off-premise channels, including restaurants, wine bars, country clubs, and retail accounts.

The primary goal of this role is to drive sales growth, increase placements, and build strong customer relationships while delivering outstanding service. This is an incredibly flexible role with unlimited upside. There will be no requirement of specific days or hours worked and success will be measures simply by sales, sell thru and points of distribution. No bureaucracy, no unnecessary staff meetings

  • just focused, persistent and creative selling into new and existing accounts.

Winning representative will be self-directed, goal-oriented and motivated to expand a business that's been in the market for 20 years.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sell curated portfolio of wine to specialty retailers and quality restaurants in the targeted territories that have been under-served and inconsistently sold.
  • Increase product placements within existing accounts and open new accounts supported by in-store tastings, staff tasting and other related activites.
  • Develop and grow sales by maintaining direct relationships with retailers and on-premise buyers.
  • Plan and execute a regular schedule of sales calls based on a route that makes sense to you and the customer base and prospects.
  • Meet or exceed service expectations and sales goals.
  • Organize and participate in trade events and in-store tastings.
  • Enhance product visibility through merchandising or inventory management where necessary or appropriate.
  • Maintain consistent planning and goal-setting to achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Follow through on issues important to management, customers, and suppliers.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in the food and beverage or hospitality industry, selling experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and passion for wines AND a desire to continue learning.
  • Proven ability to persistently create opportunities and close sales.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Technically proficient with computers and mobile devices.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.

This role will be a commission-based salary with targeted quarterly and seasonal bonuses, certain expense reimbursement and employee discounts.
