A well-established industrial machine shop in Lakeland, FL is looking for a personable, driven Business Development Representative to strengthen existing customer relationships and develop new business throughout Central Florida. This is a highly relationship-focused, field-based opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, visiting customer facilities, identifying business needs, and turning conversations into long-term partnerships. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a hunter mentality who can confidently build relationships, prospect for new opportunities, and represent the company professionally in a variety of industrial environments. What Makes the Job Great Spend much of your time in the field meeting customers, touring facilities, and developing business rather than sitting behind a desk Receive a $1,000 monthly vehicle stipend in addition to your regular pay Join an established company with a strong existing customer base, incoming leads, and opportunities to develop additional business What You'll Be Doing Serve as a primary face of the company with existing customers, prospects, and new business opportunities Regularly visit customer facilities to maintain relationships, understand their operations, and identify opportunities to provide additional services Develop new business through prospecting, cold calling, referrals, networking, facility visits, and in-person outreach Follow up on incoming leads and convert opportunities into lasting customer relationships Develop efficient daily and weekly travel routes to meet with existing customers and prospect businesses within surrounding areas Identify potential opportunities while visiting industrial areas and proactively introduce the company's capabilities to prospective customers Tour manufacturing and industrial facilities to learn about customers' equipment, maintenance challenges, and repair needs Ask thoughtful questions to uncover opportunities involving machinery maintenance, repair, machining, fabrication, and related industrial services Maintain consistent communication and follow through on commitments made to customers Partner closely with company leadership and the shop team to understand customer needs and determine appropriate solutions Travel primarily throughout Central Florida, with occasional travel to customers in other areas of Florida as needed Enter industrial and manufacturing environments while following all customer and company PPE and safety requirements Who We're Looking For Previous business development, outside sales, account management, or related customer-facing experience preferred Strong prospecting skills with an understanding of the sales cycle, follow-up, and relationship development Highly personable and comfortable initiating conversations with new people Confident making cold calls, walking into prospective businesses, and introducing services to decision-makers Self-motivated with a hunter mentality and the ability to work autonomously in the field Dependable, trustworthy, organized, and committed to following through on promises made to customers Strong verbal communication and relationship-building skills Mechanically inclined with an interest in learning how industrial machinery and manufacturing operations work Previous exposure to manufacturing, machining, industrial maintenance, mechanical equipment, fabrication, or similar environments is a strong plus Comfortable touring active industrial facilities and getting hands-on when necessary Able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and hard hats when required Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory What You Can Expect $27.00/hr Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm $1,000 monthly vehicle stipend 90% employer-paid health insurance coverage for the employee and family PTO Paid holidays
