Full-Time Position Summary PDM Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Plumbing & HVAC Estimator to evaluate residential and light commercial projects, develop accurate estimates, present professional options to customers, and help move projects from the initial consultation through a successful installation. This position will have a strong focus on: Residential plumbing projects and bathroom remodeling Bathroom modifications and remodels for patients receiving outpatient physical or occupational therapy Aging-in-place and accessibility improvements Air conditioning replacement Furnace replacement Boiler replacement Other plumbing, heating, and cooling replacement opportunities The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge with strong communication, organization, and sales skills. Experience using ServiceTitan is a plus . Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Customer Consultation Meet with homeowners and customers to evaluate plumbing and HVAC needs. Perform detailed site evaluations and measurements. Develop accurate scopes of work, material requirements, labor requirements, and project estimates. Provide customers with clear options whenever appropriate rather than presenting only one solution. Present financing options to every customer as part of the estimating and sales process. Utilize PDM's financing partners, including GoodLeap and Service Finance , to provide customers with available payment options. Clearly explain financing choices, application steps, and payment options without high-pressure sales tactics. Answer customer questions regarding equipment, materials, project expectations, warranties, financing, and scheduling. Follow up on open estimates and maintain accurate records of all customer communication. Work closely with PDM's office, dispatch, service technicians, installers, and management to ensure a smooth handoff from estimate to completed project. Bathroom Remodeling & Patient-Focused Projects A major area of responsibility will be developing PDM's bathroom remodeling services for individuals who may need modifications following outpatient physical or occupational therapy.
Responsibilities may include:
Meet with patients, homeowners, caregivers, and family members to understand their needs. Evaluate bathrooms for safety, accessibility, comfort, and ease of use. Develop bathroom remodeling recommendations that allow customers to remain safely and comfortably in their homes.
Estimate projects involving:
Walk-in and low-threshold showers Tub-to-shower conversions Grab bars and safety accessories Handheld shower systems Comfort-height toilets Accessible faucets and fixtures Shower seating and benches Improved bathroom layouts Plumbing relocations Slip-resistant and safety-focused improvements Other aging-in-place or accessibility modifications Present financing options when appropriate so customers and families understand available ways to complete needed improvements. Coordinate recommendations with the customer's stated needs and, when appropriate, recommendations provided by their therapy or healthcare professionals. Help build relationships and referral opportunities with outpatient therapy organizations, rehabilitation professionals, discharge planners, social workers, and other community partners. The estimator should understand that these customers may be dealing with mobility limitations or changes in their ability to safely use their homes. The goal is to provide respectful, practical solutions without making assumptions about the customer's individual needs. HVAC Replacement Estimating Develop replacement estimates and options for residential and light commercial HVAC systems, with particular emphasis on: Air Conditioning Central air-conditioning systems Condensers and evaporator coils Complete system replacements Indoor air quality and related accessories Furnaces Gas furnace replacements Furnace and air-conditioning combination systems High-efficiency equipment options Accessories and system improvements Boilers Hot-water boiler replacement Boiler system upgrades Pumps, controls, zoning, and related components Evaluation of existing piping and system condition Evaluate the complete system rather than simply replacing equipment. Identify potential concerns involving ductwork, venting, electrical requirements, piping, controls, drainage, equipment location, and other installation requirements. Plumbing Estimating Estimate residential and light commercial plumbing projects including: Bathroom remodeling Water heaters Tankless water heaters Sump and ejector systems Water service and sewer work Fixture replacements Repiping projects Plumbing upgrades Water treatment Other larger plumbing repair and replacement projects Look beyond the immediate project when appropriate and identify other plumbing, heating, or cooling concerns that PDM may be able to address for the customer. Financing Responsibilities Financing should be treated as a normal part of the customer presentation, not something offered only when a customer asks.
The estimator will:
Present financing options to all customers receiving qualifying estimates. Use PDM's approved financing partners, including GoodLeap and Service Finance . Explain financing choices in clear, customer-friendly terms. Help customers understand available payment options for HVAC replacement, plumbing projects, and bathroom remodeling. Assist customers with the financing application process when appropriate. Ensure financing discussions and approvals are properly documented. Coordinate approved financing with the office before scheduling or beginning work. Stay current on available programs, promotional financing, and PDM financing procedures. Never assume a customer does or does not need financing based on the size of the project or the customer's circumstances. ServiceTitan & Sales Process Create and maintain accurate customer estimates. Properly document project details, photos, measurements, notes, and customer communication. Maintain open-estimate follow-up. Track sold and unsold opportunities. Document financing presentations and customer selections when applicable. Assist with accurate job costing and project handoff. Maintain accurate equipment and customer information. Follow established PDM procedures for sold estimates, scheduling, financing, and project communication. Experience with ServiceTitan is preferred but not required . Training can be provided to the right candidate. Union Shop Environment PDM Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is a union shop and works with skilled union tradespeople, including members of: Plumbers Local 130 Pipefitters Local 265 The estimator will regularly coordinate with union plumbers, HVAC technicians, pipefitters, installers, foremen, and company leadership to ensure estimates are complete, practical, properly scoped, and ready for efficient installation. Experience working in a union construction or service environment is a plus. Communicate honestly regarding project scope, pricing, financing, scheduling, and expectations. Follow through on commitments. Work toward creating long-term PDM customers rather than simply completing a single sale. Qualifications Preferred candidates will have experience in one or more of the following: Plumbing HVAC Residential estimating HVAC replacement sales Plumbing project sales Bathroom remodeling Construction estimating Residential remodeling Aging-in-place or accessibility remodeling Consumer financing Union plumbing or HVAC environments ServiceTitan Additional preferred qualifications: Strong knowledge of plumbing and/or HVAC systems. Ability to read plans, specifications, measurements, and equipment requirements. Understanding of labor, material, equipment, and installation requirements associated with union plumbing and HVAC work. Strong mathematical and estimating skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Comfortable presenting multiple options and discussing larger projects with homeowners. Comfortable discussing financing and monthly payment options with customers. Experience with GoodLeap, Service Finance, or similar consumer financing platforms is a plus . Ability to use tablets, smartphones, estimating software, and CRM systems. Ability to work effectively with technicians, installers, office staff, vendors, union tradespeople, and management. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
