Job Summary We are looking for an Inside Sales Representative with a great attitude, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate has prior success in a customer-facing or inside sales role and is comfortable working with customers, sales teams, credit, shipping, and internal operations. Knowledge of hardwood species or the lumber industry is a plus but is not required. The right candidate should be coachable and eager to learn the products and industry. This position supports an assigned outside sales team and can provide an opportunity to progress into an outside sales position with a specific territory. Key Responsibilities Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing customers. Support an assigned outside sales team. Respond to inbound calls and web-based RFQs from new and existing customers. Handle customer service and sales-related phone calls. Make outbound sales and prospecting calls in support of Territory Managers. Enter sales orders into the company's lumber/order management software. Contact customers by phone and email regarding sales orders and RFQ information. Work with the Credit Manager to establish credit terms for new and existing customers. Coordinate with Shipping and the Lumber Mill to approve shipments based on customer credit terms. Work with the Credit Department to contact customers regarding outstanding balances, payments, and credit terms. Preferred Industry Experience Experience in any of the following is helpful but not required: Distribution Manufacturing Channel sales Building materials Lumber Architectural millwork Decking and railing Construction Contracting Outdoor living products Requirements Bachelor's degree in an industry-related field, or relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree. 2+ years of inside sales experience is preferred. Lumber industry experience is a plus, particularly experience using software similar to Epicor LumberTrack. Strong math skills, including the ability to calculate measurements, board footage, lineal footage, and piece counts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to take initiative. Compensation $60,000 annual base salary. 10% of the outside sales team's bottom-line commission paid quarterly. Eligibility for additional sales team bonuses based on quarterly forecasted margins. Additional bonuses for new client and new builder sales. No cap on potential inside sales earnings
