THE JOB You are the person customers talk to. Someone calls or emails needing material or a fabricated part. You figure out exactly what they need, get them a price quickly, and once they say yes, you make sure the order is entered right and it ships when you said it would. This is a desk role with a phone and a keyboard, not a road territory. You are not cold-calling all day and you are not carrying a territory quota. You are keeping a book of real customers happy and coming back, and getting accurate quotes out the door faster than the competition does. If you know steel, great. If you do not yet but you are careful with numbers, good on the phone, and willing to learn a real trade business from the inside, we will teach you the product.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Handle inbound calls, emails and walk-in customers who need steel or fabricated parts
- Ask the right questions up front — grade, size, quantity, tolerance, finish, delivery date — so nothing has to be chased later
- Quote stock and processed material from our price file: plate, sheet, tube, pipe, bar, structural and grating
- Put together fabrication requests with prints and specifications, get them estimated by our Solutions team, and bring the quote back to the customer
- Enter orders accurately — material, spec, price, terms, dates, purchase order number and certification requirements
- Follow up on open quotes instead of waiting for the phone to ring
- Track open orders and tell customers about a schedule change before they have to ask
- Work change orders, expedites, shortages and returns through to resolution
- Stay in touch with your accounts, win back the ones that drifted away, and hand larger opportunities to our Chief Revenue Officer
- Keep the CRM and the ERP clean and current

- Clear, professional communication with customers, vendors and coworkers
- Comfort with an ERP or order-entry system, a CRM, email and spreadsheets
- Willingness to learn steel — grades, specs, product forms, and how our machines actually make parts
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Dependable attendance; our customers count on someone being here
