Job Description

Our story, quickly. In 1993, Dalton Taylor started building plantation shutters one window at a time in Monroe, NC, with his wife Patti and brother Jeff. Thirty-plus years later, that family shop has grown into
A Shade Above:
three Charlotte-area showrooms, a fourth in North Myrtle Beach, and our own factory in Monroe where we still manufacture our shutters. We're still a real family company — and now we're doing something new. We're launching an exterior division built around outdoor living: motorized and retractable screens, patio enclosures, pergolas, luxury glass doors, exterior shades, and outdoor cabinetry. We're looking for the person who wants to build it with us, from the ground up. This is a ground-floor opportunity — for real. Most sales jobs hand you a script and a territory. This one hands you a blank page. You'd be the first face of our outdoor living business, helping shape how we sell it, who we sell it to, and where it goes. If you've ever wanted the upside of building something without starting your own company from scratch, this is about as close as it gets. We'll be straight with you: we're casting a line here to find the right person. If that sparks something in you, let's talk. We hire for character first. People invite us into their homes and pay good money to trust our judgment. Skills we can teach — character we can't. Before anything else, we want someone who is: Easy to get along with — the kind of person folks are glad to have in their home. Honest and dependable — you mean what you say, and you follow through. Glad to be here — ready to work and grateful for it. On time, every time. Take care of the little things and we'll trust you with the big ones. Do that and you'll go far here. You'll fit well if you're part salesperson, part builder — someone who's excited to help a homeowner turn a plain patio or deck into a space they never want to leave. You've got an eye for design and how a space comes together; you're a people person who listens more than you talk; you're organized and self-driven enough to run without someone standing over you; and you're comfortable measuring, quoting, and following a job through to a finished result you're proud of. Curiosity about motorization, smart-home systems, and how things get built is a real plus. Experience in outdoor living, window treatments, home improvement, or design gives you a head start — but if you've got the drive and the character, we'll teach you the products. What you'll do. You'll be the face of our new outdoor living business — meeting homeowners at their patios, decks, and porches and in our showrooms, understanding how they want to live outside, and guiding them to the right screens, enclosures, pergolas, glass doors, and shades. You'll measure, quote, and see each job through. And because you're building this from scratch, you'll get out into the community, build relationships with builders, designers, and trade partners, and generate your own leads. This is your territory to grow — and what you grow is yours to keep.
