We have been serving the area since 1989 and have built our reputation around quality products, strong relationships, and doing things the right way. We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting people, developing relationships, following up, and creating new sales opportunities. This is a sales-focused position centered on business development, relationship building, and closing new opportunities. The Sales Associate will work with homeowners, contractors, builders, and other local partners to generate leads, develop new accounts, follow up on opportunities, and help grow Deckmasters' residential, contractor, and retail sales. The ideal person is comfortable making outbound calls, starting new conversations, building long-term relationships, working incoming leads, and staying accountable for moving opportunities through the sales process. What You'll Do You will be responsible for developing new opportunities while also helping customers who contact or visit Deckmasters.
Responsibilities include:
Prospect for new residential, contractor, builder, and commercial customers Make outbound calls to prospective customers and contractors Build relationships with local contractors, builders, remodelers, landscapers, property managers, and other potential partners Follow up consistently with leads and past customers Work leads generated through our website, showroom, advertising, referrals, and existing customer base Assist customers in our showroom and over the phone Learn Deckmasters' decking, railing, pergola, and outdoor-living product lines Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions Prepare and present quotes and proposals Follow up on open quotes and opportunities Maintain accurate customer, lead, and sales activity in our CRM Work with the Deckmasters team to transition sold projects or orders to the appropriate team member Participate in local networking, industry, and community events when appropriate Continually look for new opportunities to grow Deckmasters' customer and contractor relationships What We're Looking For We are more interested in finding someone who can sell, communicate, and build relationships than someone who already knows everything about decks.
The right person will be:
Comfortable making outbound calls and starting conversations with new people Naturally personable and able to develop long-term relationships Persistent with follow-up without being overly aggressive Organized and comfortable managing multiple leads and opportunities Self-motivated and comfortable being accountable for sales activity and results Professional in person, by phone, email, and text Comfortable working with homeowners as well as contractors and business owners Willing to learn technical product information Comfortable using CRM and basic business software Able to work independently while still being part of a team Previous experience in sales, building materials, construction, home improvement, contractor sales, or a related industry is helpful, but it is not required for the right person. What This Position Is Not We want to be clear about the focus of this role. You will not be expected to manage construction crews or oversee projects from start to finish. Once a project is sold and ready to move forward, our operations and project team will take responsibility for execution. Your job is to keep the sales pipeline moving: prospect, develop relationships, qualify opportunities, sell, follow up, and help create repeat business. About Deckmasters Deckmasters has served the Fargo-Moorhead community since 1989. We specialize in premium outdoor-living products and projects, including composite decking, railing, pergolas, and related products. We operate a large local showroom and work with homeowners, contractors, builders, and other professionals throughout the region. We believe good sales comes from knowing the product, being responsive, doing what you say you are going to do, and developing relationships that last beyond a single transaction. Schedule Full-time position based in Fargo. The position will include a combination of showroom sales, phone and email follow-up, outbound business development, and meeting with prospective customers and contractor partners. Compensation Base salary plus uncapped commission based on sales performance. Why Deckmasters? This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to build a sales career instead of simply processing incoming orders. You will have an established company, showroom, product lines, existing customer base, marketing efforts, and reputation behind you, while also having the opportunity to build your own relationships and grow your book of business. If you enjoy sales, meeting people, developing relationships, and creating new business, we would like to meet you.
