OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE
Overhead Crane & Material Handling Industry Position Summary The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for developing new business and growing existing customer relationships for overhead crane, hoist, and material handling products and services. This position will work directly with industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, fabrication, and other commercial customers to identify their material handling needs and provide appropriate solutions. The Outside Sales Representative will sell service, inspections, repairs, parts, modernization projects, new crane systems, runway systems, and related equipment. The ideal candidate is comfortable spending time in industrial environments, building long-term customer relationships, identifying opportunities in the field, and coordinating with service and operations teams to ensure customers receive accurate proposals and reliable solutions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers within the assigned territory.
  • Prospect for new customers through cold calling, referrals, networking, site visits, and other business-development activities.
  • Visit customer facilities to identify overhead crane, hoist, runway, and material handling needs.
  • Sell preventative maintenance programs and overhead crane inspection services.
  • Identify opportunities for repairs, replacement parts, upgrades, and crane modernization.
  • Develop opportunities for new overhead cranes, hoists, runway systems, and related material handling equipment.
  • Follow up on inspection findings, technician recommendations, open quotations, and outstanding customer needs.
  • Work with customers to understand operational requirements, production concerns, budgets, and project timelines.
  • Gather accurate information from customer sites so estimates and proposals can be prepared.
  • Coordinate with management, service technicians, estimating, engineering, fabrication, and purchasing as needed to develop customer solutions.
  • Prepare and present professional proposals and quotations.
  • Explain proposed equipment, repairs, upgrades, and services clearly to customers.

  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales activities, opportunities, quotations, and follow-up information in the company's CRM or sales tracking system.
  • Meet or exceed established sales, gross-profit, customer-development, and account-retention goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of company products, services, capabilities, and current industry practices.
  • Represent the company professionally at customer facilities, industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
  • Communicate customer concerns or service issues to the appropriate department and assist with ensuring they are addressed promptly.
