The New and Used Vehicle Sales Consultants are directly responsible for selling new and used vehicles at dealership gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction standards.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
  • Conducts self in a manner which is consistent with guaranteeing satisfaction to customers.
  • Determines each customer's vehicle needs by asking questions and listening.
  • Demonstrates new vehicles (includes test drives).
  • Delivers new vehicles to customers. This process ensures that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty and paperwork, and it lays the foundation for customer loyalty.
  • Attends sales meetings.
  • Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains prospect development system.
  • Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefit to customers.
  • Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
  • Reports to the New or Used Vehicle Sales Manager regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews and analyses.
  • Reviews and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
  • Understands the terminology of the automobile business and keeps abreast of technological changes in the product.
  • Knows and understands equity and values and has the ability to explain depreciation to the customer.
  • Knows and understands the federal, state and local laws, which govern retail auto sales.
  • Introduces customers to Service Department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of the dealership's service operations.
  • Completes monthly manufacturer trainings to stay certified.
Some have in store trainings occasionally throughout the year.
