Job Description External DI Wholesaler, MMFA Full-Time, Remote - West Region The Opportunity As a Disability Income Regional Wholesaler, you will play a critical role in expanding the reach and impact of MassMutual's Individual Disability Insurance (IDI) solutions within MassMutual Financial Advisors (MMFA). You will operate with a high degree of autonomy in your assigned territory, serving as a subject-matter expert and trusted partner to financial professionals and General Agents. In this role, you will influence advisor behavior, develop sales strategies, and own outcomes tied to territory performance while partnering closely with an internal wholesaler to drive results. The Team You will be part of the MassMutual Financial Advisors (MMFA) Disability Income sales organization, a collaborative, performance-driven group focused on delivering best-in-class income protection solutions. The team is comprised of experienced external and internal wholesalers who share a passion for consultative selling, advisor education, and long-term relationship building. Team members regularly partner with financial advisors, General Agents, and internal stakeholders across sales management, product, and operations. The Impact:
In this role, you will be responsible but not limited to: Build and maintain proactive sales relationships with financial professionals across your assigned territory by profiling advisors, deepening relationships, and expanding your advisor base to drive sustainable growth. Serve as a disability insurance expert, delivering sales ideas, product insights, and consultative support to help advisors address client income protection needs. Execute disciplined activity and territory management practices to identify, pursue, and maximize sales opportunities aligned with overall company objectives. Partner closely with an internal wholesaler to coordinate outreach, share insights, and jointly drive individual disability insurance sales results. Provide regular updates to sales management on territory activity, pipeline health, and progress toward sales objectives. Manage travel and expense budgets responsibly while maintaining strong field presence and advisor engagement. The Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of experience in disability insurance wholesale distribution. 2+ years of experience in an external wholesaling role. State Life and Health Insurance license at time of application. Must reside in Mountain and Pacific Time Zones The Ideal Qualifications Experience across multiple disability insurance distribution channels. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective sales presentations, including strong negotiation skills. Success building and sustaining relationships with centers of influence. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Highly developed interpersonal, organizational, and team-oriented skills. Comfort operating in a results-driven, field-based sales environment with shared accountability.
Compensation:
$62K-$70K base range plus sales-based incentive opportunity resulting in a total target compensation package of $185 - $256K.
