This is a unique opportunity for an experienced construction estimator who understands the entire project , not just one trade or square-foot pricing, and enjoys working directly with customers. The company has built a strong marketing and referral network that generates multiple inbound leads and prospective projects on an ongoing basis . While this is a sales-driven position, the focus is not heavy cold calling or traditional business development. You'll spend your time working qualified opportunities, meeting with prospective clients, understanding what they want to build, developing complete project estimates, presenting solutions, and helping turn those opportunities into successful projects. With a $60,000-$70,000 base salary, uncapped commission, and the ability to earn $150,000+ annually , this is an opportunity for a talented estimator to directly benefit from the business they help bring across the finish line. You do need to understand the scope, sequencing, labor, materials, subcontractor requirements, and costs necessary to build an accurate whole-project budget . What We're Looking For 5+ years of residential and/or commercial construction estimating experience Demonstrated experience estimating entire homes, buildings, or complete construction projects Ability to receive a complete set of plans and independently develop a comprehensive project estimate Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and civil plans Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and subcontractor scopes Experience performing detailed construction takeoffs Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids Experience with estimating or construction platforms such as Buildertrend, Procore, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar Strong Microsoft Excel skills Excellent communication and customer-facing skills Comfortable discussing budgets, presenting estimates, following up with prospects, and asking for the business Self-motivated and able to manage your schedule across office, remote, and field environments Comfortable traveling throughout North and Northeast Texas to meet customers and evaluate potential projects Who This Role Is NOT Designed For This position requires true whole-project estimating experience.
It is not designed for:
Production estimators whose experience is primarily square-foot pricing Estimators limited to a single construction trade Entry-level takeoff technicians Candidates who have never independently developed complete construction budgets Estimators who want to remain exclusively behind a desk Traditional salespeople without the construction knowledge necessary to independently estimate a complete project The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate can receive a full set of plans and independently answer the question: "What is it actually going to cost to build this entire project?" You understand everything from dirt work and foundations through framing, MEP, roofing, interior finishes, exterior finishes, labor, materials, and subcontractors. But you're also comfortable sitting across the table from a potential customer. You can listen to what they want, evaluate the project, explain costs and options in terms they understand, develop trust, present a professional proposal, and ultimately help earn their business.
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
$60,000 - $70,000
Commission:
Uncapped Total Earning Potential:
$150,000+ annually The company provides an established flow of prospective customers through multiple lead-generation sources, allowing you to focus primarily on working and converting opportunities rather than constantly prospecting for them .
Benefits include:
Company-sponsored benefits Paid time off Uncapped commission opportunity Hybrid work flexibility Established inbound lead flow Significant long-term earning potential Work Environment This is a highly flexible hybrid and field-based position . You'll divide your time between the company office, your home office, and project locations. A significant portion of the role will be spent in the field meeting prospective customers, visiting properties, evaluating potential projects, and developing the relationships necessary to win business. Most customers and projects are located throughout North and Northeast Texas , with occasional projects extending into surrounding areas. For an experienced whole-project estimator who enjoys working with customers and wants their income tied directly to their performance, this is an opportunity to combine construction expertise, estimating, customer relationships, and sales with virtually unlimited upside.
