Scientific Business Development Associate, Translational Oncology Solutions
REPORTING LOCATION

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The Scientific Business Development Associate serves as an interface between the Business Development team and Champions Oncology's scientific and operational functions across Europe and Asia. The role supports the advancement of business opportunities by combining scientific understanding with strong organizational and operational execution. The Associate brings together the information required for model selection, study development, quoting, and proposal preparation while also supporting targeted lead generation and broader Business Development activities.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRODUCTIVITY EXPECTATIONS
Prepares quotes, proposals, and Statements of Work by translating client requirements and internal scientific, operational, and commercial input into accurate study documents. Supports model selection and the development of preclinical and translational study designs using Champions Oncology's databases and scientific resources. Consolidates model information, scientific data, feasibility assessments, timelines, pricing, and other materials required to advance business opportunities. Works closely with Medical Affairs, R D, laboratory teams, Project Management, and Operations to address technical questions and obtain required input. Prepares scientific summaries, datasets, presentations, and materials for internal and client-facing use. Supports client meeting preparation and participates in scientific or project-specific discussions as required. Conducts scientifically tailored lead generation and pipeline research across Europe and Asia. Identifies and qualifies prospective biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients and refers opportunities to the responsible Business Development lead. Supports account research, conference preparation, and follow-up activities. Maintains accurate account, activity, and opportunity information within the company's CRM system. Supports pipeline reviews, reporting, forecasting, and the improvement of internal Business Development resources and processes. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong scientific foundation in oncology, cancer biology, molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, genetics, or a related discipline. Understanding of oncology drug discovery and the preclinical and translational drug development process. Understanding of how in vivo, ex vivo, biomarker, and other translational research platforms are used to advance therapeutic programs. Ability to understand complex scientific requests and translate them into structured study concepts and clear commercial materials. Excellent verbal, written, and scientific communication skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple opportunities and workstreams while proactively following up with internal stakeholders. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across functions, geographies, and time zones. Professional fluency in English is required. Additional European or Asian language skills are an advantage.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Advanced degree in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related biomedical or life sciences discipline. PhD or equivalent scientific training is preferred. Relevant experience in academic research, biotechnology, pharmaceutical drug development, a CRO, or another preclinical or translational research environment. Experience with preclinical oncology models, in vivo or ex vivo pharmacology, immuno-oncology, biomarkers, or translational research is preferred. Experience supporting multidisciplinary scientific projects or preparing complex scientific or commercial materials is an advantage. Previous business development, project management, technical sales, or customer-facing experience is beneficial but is not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to sit for extended periods and use a computer in a typical remote office environment. Occasional travel may be required.
