We are looking for an outgoing, motivated, and personable individuals to help us secure local business sponsorships for the 2026 Montclair Comedy Festival. This is an independent, commission-based position with flexible hours. You will work at your own pace and earn commission on cash sponsorship revenue you personally secure , plus the opportunity to earn additional bonuses based on sponsorship sales. The ideal candidate is comfortable talking to business owners, building relationships, making a persuasive pitch, and asking for the sale. Existing relationships with businesses in Montclair and the surrounding communities are a major plus. The Montclair Comedy Festival will provide you with sponsorship packages, festival information, marketing materials, and other resources needed to approach potential sponsors. The primary goal of this position is simple: generate cash sponsorship revenue for the festival. Duties Identify and research potential sponsors, with an emphasis on local businesses and organizations. Reach out to prospective sponsors by phone, email, social media, and in person. Present the Montclair Comedy Festival sponsorship opportunities and explain the benefits of supporting the festival. Build relationships with business owners and decision-makers. Follow up with prospective sponsors and move conversations toward a sponsorship commitment. Maintain communication with sponsors throughout the sales process. Represent the Montclair Comedy Festival in a professional, enthusiastic, and positive manner. Keep track of prospects, outreach, follow-ups, and sponsorship commitments. Help identify new opportunities for businesses to connect with the festival and its audience. Requirements Sales experience is helpful, but not required. We are particularly interested in someone who: Is outgoing, friendly, confident, and comfortable approaching business owners. Enjoys meeting people and starting conversations. Can communicate the value of a sponsorship clearly and enthusiastically. Is self-motivated and able to work independently without constant supervision. Has strong follow-up and relationship-building skills. Is organized and able to keep track of prospects and conversations. Can quickly learn the festival's sponsorship levels, benefits, and talking points. Has existing relationships with local businesses in Montclair, Essex County, or Northern New Jersey (a strong plus!) . Has experience in sales, fundraising, advertising, marketing, business development, or sponsorships (preferred, but not required) . Will represent the Montclair Comedy Festival professionally, positively, and enthusiastically.
