Outside Sales Rep - Equipment Sales, BAS & Controls & more McMillan James Equipment Company Houston, TX Job Details 13 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Full Job Description Position Summary The Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth through the development and execution of sales strategies focused on the MJEC's services, equipment, solutions, and capabilities across all divisions, including Equipment Sales, HVAC Service, Building Automation & Controls, Distribution, Parts Sales, and Data Center Solutions. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, managing customer relationships, and delivering solutions that meet client needs while supporting overall business objectives. The ideal candidate combines strong sales acumen with industry knowledge and a customer-focused approach. This position requires the ability to develop long-term relationships, identify opportunities, and manage projects and accounts from initial prospecting through project closeout and ongoing support. Essential Job Functions Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, engineers, end users, building owners, vendors, and other industry partners Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the Company's divisions and service offerings Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through project closeout Review project plans, specifications, and customer requirements to identify opportunities for equipment, service, automation, controls, mechanical, or other Company solutions Collaborate with estimating, engineering, operations, and leadership teams to develop proposals and customer solutions Prepare and present proposals, including scope, pricing, and solution recommendations Provide value engineering and consultative solutions to improve project competitiveness and profitability Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate project handoff and successful execution Track and manage sales pipeline, forecasts, customer activity, and opportunities within CRM systems Maintain ongoing communication with customers to support project execution, resolve issues, and identify future opportunities Stay current on industry trends, technologies, products, and competitive landscape relevant to the Company's operations Participate in client meetings, job walks, networking opportunities, and industry events Support overall business development initiatives and strategic growth efforts across divisions Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered 3+ years of experience in sales, business development, HVAC, mechanical, construction, automation, controls, distribution, service, or related industry Strong understanding of commercial and/or industrial mechanical systems, equipment, services, or construction processes preferred Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documentation preferred Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills Experience with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment Key Competencies Relationship building and customer focus Business development and sales strategy Technical aptitude and problem-solving Communication and negotiation Organization and time management Adaptability and collaboration Results-driven mindset
