Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Senior Footwear Sales Specialist to join our Two River Running sales team! The Senior Footwear Sales Specialist provides a knowledgeable, welcoming, and service-focused experience for customers at a specialty walking and running shoe store. This hands-on retail role supports daily store operations, sales, merchandising, and assigned store events while working closely with the Owner. Duties Customer Service & Sales Greet customers, learn about their needs, and provide attentive, personalized service.
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate walking, running, and everyday footwear, apparel, and accessories within the scope of retail product guidance. Maintain a strong sales-floor presence and use effective selling techniques to support store sales and repeat business. Process customer transactions accurately and assist with returns or customer concerns in a professional manner.
- Maintain current knowledge of store products, brands, promotions, and fitting processes.
Share customer feedback, product requests, and sales observations with the Owner. Store Operations Complete assigned opening, closing, and daily store responsibilities. Assist with receiving, stocking, organizing, pricing, and merchandising merchandise. Keep the sales floor, fitting areas, stockroom, and displays clean, organized, and customer-ready. Follow store procedures, cash-handling practices, and customer-service standards Communicate operational needs, customer concerns, and inventory observations to the Owner. Event Support Support store-sponsored events, vendor demonstrations, and promotional activities as assigned by the Owner. Assist with event setup, customer check-in, product displays, guest support, breakdown, and other assigned event needs. Support the store's annual October half marathon and 5K, including assigned preparation, day-of-event duties, and follow-up tasks. Work occasional early-morning, evening, or weekend hours when scheduled for store events or the annual half marathon and 5K. Required Qualifications Previous customer service, retail, sales, or other client-facing experience. Strong communication, customer service, organization, and teamwork skills. Ability to learn product features and provide helpful, accurate retail guidance. Ability to manage assigned tasks, follow procedures, and work collaboratively with a hands-on Owner and team. Ability to work a flexible 32-hour weekly retail schedule, including weekends and occasional event hours. Ability to work independently during assigned shifts when Owner is not on-site; follow established store procedures, prioritize assigned tasks, provide customer service, and use sound judgment in addressing routine store needs. Preferred Qualifications Experience in specialty retail, footwear, sporting goods, fitness, outdoor, or running-related retail. Familiarity with running and walking footwear, apparel, and related products. Experience assisting with races, retail events, vendor demonstrations, or similar customer-facing events. - Event Support Physical & Scheduling Requirements Ability to remain standing and moving throughout the store for extended periods.
Ability to perform typical retail functions, including stocking, merchandising, retrieving merchandise, and assisting customers. Ability to safely use and climb ladders to retrieve, stock, organize and merchandise inventory Ability to lift, carry, push and pull boxes, and other store merchandise weighing up to 25lbs, with heavier items moved with assistance if needed. Ability to lift and move merchandise and event materials consistent with the requirements of the position. Ability to participate in occasional early-morning, evening, or weekend community events, vendor demonstrations, run club activities, and the annual half marathon. Position Expectations This is a hands-on, 32-hour retail position. During scheduled hours, the Senior Footwear Sales Specialist is expected to provide excellent customer service, complete assigned store responsibilities, contribute to sales, and support scheduled store events. The role requires reliability, initiative, and close communication with the Owner and store team.
