Assistant Market Supervisor The Somerville Flea, established in 2012 in Davis Square, Somerville, has for over a decade served as both a vibrantmunity event—bringing people together—and a low-risk opportunity for artists, creators and small businesses to connect with Somerville and its surroundingmunities. Since 2021, the Somerville Flea has also operated the Greenway Artisan Market, located on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in downtown Boston. Last year, the two markets together hosted 300 different artists, designers, and small businesses.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Somerville Flea is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Assistant Market Supervisor at the Greenway Artisan Market location in downtown Boston. ing to the Market Manager, the Assistant Market Supervisor is responsible for assisting with onsite market set-up, load out and other artist/vendor interactions. The candidate should have a high desire to further the purpose of the artist and small businessmunity of Boston and Metro region. Assistant Market Supervisor will be responsible for greeting, checking-in and showing vendors w their preassigned tent spots are located Assist with making sure that market setup and/or breakdown is moving smoothly, by assisting vendors as needs arise. Explain, enforce market regulations as to how vendor tents, tables and other aspects should be set up, as per market rules. Watch vendor tent spaces (tent sit) as needed while vendors use the restroom. Take pictures of the market, vendor's merchandise, and vendors for use on social media and s. Create content for social media, both for publishing on market day and during the week.

Hours of work:

Saturdays on the Greenway, May through October, 9AM to 6:30PM (7:30PM July-Aug. sometimes longer as needed, agreed upon in advance) Sundays on the Greenway, May through September, 9AM to 6:30PM Pay range $22-$25/hour depending on experience, 18-20 hours a weekend. Potential for remote work from home, midweek up to 4 hours. (Social media, onlineanization, etc.) May through October

Qualifications:

Qualifications and physical demands include but are not limited to: The ability to lift and carry 40lbs. The ability to walk, bend, stand for long periods of time. Required to work in varying weather conditions, for extended periods of time. The ability to read maps with vendor locations and direct vendors. Basicputer, smartphone, social media skills, (Word, email, facebook, instagram, ect.)
