Position Summary The Grocery Clerk at Laurel Supply supports both the sales floor and front-end operations, ensuring a seamless and elevated guest experience. This role is responsible for maintaining exceptional product presentation while also assisting cashiers and stepping into register operations as needed. Grocery Clerks are cross-trained to support front-end flow, minimize guest wait times, and uphold the service standards of a premium retail environment. Key Responsibilities Guest Experience & Front-End Support Greet guests warmly and provide a high level of service throughout the store Actively support front-end operations by assisting cashiers during peak periods Help manage lines, direct guests, and ensure an efficient and organized checkout experience Step in to operate the register when needed, ensuring accuracy and professionalism Assist with bagging, order organization, and guest carry-out when appropriate Cash Handling & Register Operations (Cross-Trained) Accurately process transactions including cash, credit, and digital payments Maintain proper cash handling procedures and ensure drawer accuracy Follow all POS protocols and company policies when operating the register Resolve basic transaction or guest concerns with a calm, solution-oriented approach Escalate more complex issues to management as needed Merchandising & Product Presentation Maintain fully stocked, clean, and visually appealing shelves and displays Ensure all products are properly faced, aligned, and labeled Execute merchandising standards that reflect Laurel Supply's elevated brand Rotate products using FIFO and remove any damaged or expired items Stocking & Inventory Support Receive, unpack, and stock deliveries with attention to quality and organization Maintain backstock areas in a clean and orderly manner Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs proactively Store Cleanliness & Organization Maintain a polished and organized store environment, including high-traffic front-end areas Ensure checkout stations, bagging areas, and surrounding spaces remain clean and stocked Support overall store upkeep, including spills, recovery, and general maintenance Compliance & Food Safety Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures Adhere to company policies and local health and safety regulations Maintain a safe working environment and report any hazards immediately Qualifications Previous retail, grocery, or cashier experience preferred Strong customer service skills with a hospitality-focused mindset Comfortable handling transactions and working with POS systems Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Ability to multitask and shift between front-end and floor support seamlessly Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Frequent bending, reaching, and movement between front-end and sales floor Ability to work in refrigerated areas as needed Schedule & Availability Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to support high-volume periods and store needs as they arise Join us today to be part of a lively team dedicated to delivering exceptional service while developing your skills in retail operations!
