Job Title:
Stockroom Associate Job Description The Stockroom Associate receives, stores, and issues equipment, materials, supplies, merchandise, and tools while maintaining accurate stock records in a stockroom or warehouse environment. This role also serves as a backup for shipping and receiving operations when needed, supporting smooth material flow across the organization. Responsibilities Control the issuing and receipt of inventory into and out of stocking locations by following prescribed processes and handling procedures, including material identification, counting, transporting, and packaging for end users or storage. Kit stockroom parts according to production work order bills of material to ensure timely and accurate material availability for manufacturing. Replenish production floor kanban materials as needed to support continuous production and minimize downtime. Conduct cycle counts and perform root cause analysis on inventory variances, taking corrective actions to improve accuracy. Provide stockroom service support for all departments, responding to material requests and inquiries in a timely manner. Perform Lean projects and participate in continuous improvement events to enhance stockroom and material handling processes. Manage materials using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) methods to maintain proper inventory rotation and reduce obsolescence. Process finished work orders and receive finished product into finished goods stock, ensuring accurate system transactions. Manage material shortages according to stockroom procedures, promptly notifying planners and buyers to resolve issues. Maintain inventory and other stock records in an ERP system and related tools to ensure data integrity and traceability. Store articles in an orderly and accessible manner in bins, on the floor, or on shelves in the warehouse or other areas, using identifying information such as style, size, or type of material. Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions or notify buyers when replenishment is required. Assist Production with ongoing work-in-process (WIP) shop order audits to verify material usage and accuracy. Coordinate with planning, purchasing, quality, and shipping departments to ensure materials are issued correctly and transactions are processed on time. Provide WIP status updates and help maintain production schedules to support operational efficiency. Serve as backup for shipping and receiving duties, including auditing receipts for proper part markings, quantities, revisions, purchase order numbers, delivery dates, and packaging. Process incoming receipts according to communicated priorities and enter data accurately into the appropriate systems. Operate forklifts as necessary for safe and efficient material movement within the warehouse and production areas. Generate customer packing lists and other required shipping documents in accordance with established procedures. Pack customer orders for shipment, ensuring correct items, quantities, packaging, and documentation. Follow all export policies and laws when preparing and processing outbound shipments. Work with production teams to stage finished products for shipment in alignment with shipping schedules. Collaborate with Production Planners and Sales Administrators on customer shipment schedules and requirements to support on-time delivery. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED) and 25 years of relevant stockroom, inventory, or material handling experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience using an ERP system for material transactions and inventory management. Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills, including the ability to create spreadsheets and graphs. Ability to obtain forklift certification and safely operate forklifts for material movement. Familiarity with bills of material (BOMs) and routings related to production work orders. Knowledge of backflush, frontflush, kanban processes, and point-of-use inventory practices. Ability to manage changing priorities and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of inventory management procedures and terminology, including stocking locations, SKUs, inventory variances, and cycle counting. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of regular material handling duties. Status as a U.S. Person for access to ITAR-controlled technical data. Additional Skills & Qualifications Some college coursework or material/inventory control certificates preferred. Knowledge of 7S methodology is a plus. Experience in writing work instructions and procedures is a plus. Experience or training in lean methodologies is a plus. Experience with inventory, stockroom operations, cycle counts, and material handling. Proficiency in data entry and general computer skills. The work is fast-paced, with changing priorities and close coordination with planning, purchasing, quality, shipping, and production teams. 7-330pm Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
