About the
Role:
As a Produce Trainee in the retail trade industry, you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the produce department to ensure fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables are available to customers. This position is designed to provide comprehensive training in produce handling, inventory management, and customer service, preparing you for a future leadership role within the department. You will learn to maintain proper storage conditions, monitor product quality, and assist in merchandising to enhance the shopping experience. The role requires collaboration with team members to uphold safety and sanitation standards while efficiently managing stock levels. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to the overall success of the produce department by ensuring customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Basic understanding of produce varieties and handling preferred but not required. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude. Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in retail or grocery store environments, especially in produce or perishables. Familiarity with inventory management systems or point-of-sale technology. Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays. Demonstrated teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
Assist in receiving, inspecting, and stocking fresh produce deliveries to ensure quality and freshness standards are met. Learn and apply proper handling and storage techniques to maintain product integrity and reduce waste. Support the setup and maintenance of attractive produce displays that encourage customer purchases. Engage with customers to provide knowledgeable assistance and answer questions about produce items. Participate in inventory tracking and rotation to ensure timely sales and minimize spoilage. Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment. Collaborate with team members and management to meet daily operational goals and improve department performance.

Attention to detail is critical when inspecting deliveries and maintaining product quality to minimize waste.
