Grocery Reports to: Grocery ManagerPOSITION SUMMARY
Stocks merchandise and prepares displays, while maintaining a neat, clean and safe environment, while providing standard customer service.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(responsibilities include, but are not limited to):- Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact
- Assists customers on the grocery floor by finding items, returns stray items to their proper area, and removes damaged products from customer view
- Stocks and rotates grocery items, while keeping all labels faced forward
- Pulls empty cardboard boxes off the shelves from around the store and bales boxes following proper equipment procedures
- Provides some cashiering and bagging help when needed, register accuracy, knows/ carries out proper register procedures
- Returns misplaced products to their appropriate area, while maintaining product freshness by returning all perishables and frozen items to their proper areas promptly
- Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager
OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use of proper safety procedures
- Able to multitask, listen to directions and follow through independently
- Able to deal with difficult customers, have good communication and observation skills
- Able to work with a team and independently when needed
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
- High school / Secondary school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age to ring register and operate machinery
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Previous experience working with the public
- Able to use box cutters
- Knowledge of location of products
- Working knowledge of produce codes required, while able to differentiate between different produce products required when ringing
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind, chill temperatures when products need to be retrieved from chill and freezer
- Very fast paced
