The Stock Room Clerk/ Backup buyer is responsible for coordinating the procurement, receipt, storage, inventory control, and distribution of equipment, parts, and supplies throughout the organization. The position requires a combination of organizational skills, and hands-on stockroom responsibilities. The Stock Room Clerk/ Backup buyer will work closely with suppliers, internal departments, maintenance, production, and other personnel to ensure the timely and cost-effective availability of materials. Stockroom and Inventory Management Organize, coordinate, and oversee daily stockroom activities involving the receipt, storage, issuing, and distribution of parts, materials, supplies, and equipment. Receive incoming parts and materials, verify quantities and condition, and properly document receipts in the applicable inventory or purchasing system. Scan and accurately record parts and materials as they are issued from the stockroom. Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure materials are properly identified, labeled, stored, and readily accessible. Perform routine inventory counts, cycle counts, and physical inventory activities. Investigate inventory discrepancies and identify root causes to improve inventory accuracy and prevent recurring issues. Monitor inventory levels and identify replenishment requirements to maintain appropriate stock levels. Coordinate the delivery of materials and parts to production, maintenance, and other departments as required. Operate a forklift to receive, move, store, and distribute materials safely and efficiently. Follow all applicable forklift, material-handling, safety, and storage procedures. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe stockroom environment. Ensure stockroom transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Experience with purchasing and inventory management in a manufacturing, industrial, or MRO environment is preferred. Required Qualifications and Skills Working knowledge of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, and stockroom operations. Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP/accounting and inventory management software. Ability to operate a forklift safely and effectively; applicable certification or training required in accordance with company policy. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to accurately maintain inventory and purchasing records. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate inventory discrepancies and determine root causes. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate with suppliers and develop productive vendor relationships. Ability to understand and follow company policies, procedures, and applicable legal requirements. Financially conscious with the ability to make cost-effective purchasing and inventory decisions. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to work in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment. Ability to safely operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment as required. Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the stockroom and plant.
