Position Overview Rainbow Blossom is seeking a friendly, dependable, and flexible Salesfloor Clerk to join our team. This is a cross-department position that supports multiple areas of the store, including grocery, wellness, produce, cashiering, and general store operations. The ideal candidate enjoys helping customers, works well as part of a team, and is comfortable shifting between responsibilities based on the needs of the store. This position is expected to provide prompt, friendly customer service while helping keep the store stocked, clean, organized, and running smoothly. This position reports to the Store Manager and Department Managers and checks in daily with the Person in Charge (PIC).
Schedule:
Must have night and weekend availability; up to 30 hours per week. Primary Responsibilities Follow all store policies and procedures. Be a productive, professional, and cooperative team member. Work respectfully and collaboratively with coworkers and customers. Follow the work schedule assigned by management. Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for customers and staff. Answer and route phone calls and take messages as needed. Complete tasks assigned by the Store Manager, Department Managers, or PIC. Promptly alert the PIC or Store Manager to safety concerns, equipment problems, suspected shoplifting, disorderly customers, or other emergencies. Attend department and all-staff meetings. Assist with training new team members in department duties and procedures when requested. Customer Service Provide prompt, friendly, and helpful customer service. Greet customers and make them feel welcome. Answer questions and offer product or preparation suggestions when appropriate. Listen to customer requests and feedback and share them with the appropriate team member or manager. When a customer asks where a product is located, take them to the product or connect them with another team member who can assist. Build product knowledge to confidently answer customer questions and refer unresolved questions to the appropriate staff member. Assist customers with special orders. GroceryWellness Stocking Stock shelves and end caps and keep products faced and organized. Work backstock onto shelves whenever possible. Rotate inventory so older products are sold first. Identify short-dated or low-quality products and follow established procedures for discounting, recording, or disposing of them. Accurately label products with appropriate prices and signage and report discrepancies to Department Managers. Receive and stock local orders and larger weekly deliveries according to established procedures. Assist Department Managers with receiving deliveries as requested. Maintain product organization according to shelf tags and established department standards. Produce Responsibilities Understand and follow requirements related to organic certification. Consistently and accurately work produce backstock. Make sure top-selling products are stocked daily. Support the Produce Manager in preparing for inventory. Complete assigned cleaning to keep produce shelves and displays clean and inviting. Regularly cull the department to maintain fresh, high-quality products. Cashier Responsibilities Check out customer purchases quickly and accurately using correct prices, PLUs, and departments. Follow all established cashiering policies and procedures. Call for backup when needed to keep checkout lines moving. Bag purchases appropriately and assist customers with carrying out groceries when needed. Encourage customers to sign up for Rainbow Rewards. During slower checkout periods, assist with appropriate stocking, pricing, cleaning, organizing, and assigned tasks. Keep the checkout area clean and organized. Properly handle customer returns, including recording, disposing of, or routing returned products as required. Cash Handling Set up cash drawers according to established procedures. Close and accurately balance cash drawers at the end of the shift. Retrieve change from the safe as needed to replenish registers. Recount deposits, correct cash flow paperwork when necessary, complete routing paperwork, and secure deposits in the safe. Complete safe deposits and required paperwork and serve as or obtain a witness when required. Store Maintenance Keep shelves, coolers, counters, bins, and other store areas clean and organized. Clean spills and other messes promptly. Help keep restrooms clean, sanitary, and well stocked. Remove trash and recycling and assist with sweeping and mopping floors. Keep department equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition. Use equipment safely and follow established procedures. Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures as assigned. Report equipment problems promptly to the PIC. Physical Requirements Frequently lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Regularly stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and perform stocking and bagging tasks. Squat or kneel as needed and occasionally climb. Work primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment with regular outdoor exposure that may include hot or cold temperatures, wind, or precipitation.
