Produce Associate Oak Point Market- St. George - 3.0 Baton Rouge, LA Job Details Full-time 23 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Retirement plan Qualifications Food production Merchandising Basic math Moving Produce Grocery store experience Full Job Description The Produce Associate plays an important role in providing our customers with fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables in a clean, attractive, and well stocked department. This position is responsible for stocking and rotating products, maintaining beautiful displays, monitoring freshness and quality, assisting customers, and keeping the Produce Department clean and organized. We are looking for a friendly, dependable, hardworking team member who takes pride in providing fresh products and excellent customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous customer service. Greet customers and assist them in locating produce and other products throughout the store. Answer customer questions and provide product information or recommendations when appropriate. Stock fruits, vegetables, and other Produce Department merchandise throughout the shift. Rotate products properly to maintain freshness and minimize waste. Regularly inspect produce for freshness, quality, damage, or spoilage and remove products that do not meet quality standards. Keep produce displays full, neat, organized, and visually appealing. Build and maintain promotional and seasonal displays as directed. Wash, trim, cut, wrap, package, weigh, price, and label produce as needed. Maintain accurate pricing and signage throughout the department. Receive and unload produce deliveries and assist with organizing products in coolers and back-stock areas. Follow proper procedures for storing refrigerated and non-refrigerated produce. Keep coolers, prep areas, displays, shelves, tables, floors, and work areas clean and sanitary. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures. Safely operate approved Produce Department equipment and tools according to company policies and applicable age restrictions. Help monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock or quality concerns to Produce Department management. Assist with reducing shrink by following proper handling, rotation, storage, and merchandising procedures. Work cooperatively with Produce Department leadership and other store associates. Assist other departments when necessary and perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Friendly and customer service focused. Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Strong attention to freshness, quality, cleanliness, and presentation. Ability to follow instructions and established procedures. Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Previous grocery, produce, food service, or retail experience is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn about fruits, vegetables, seasonal products, and proper produce handling. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
The Produce Associate must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently bend, reach, stoop, squat, push, pull, and grasp. Lift, carry, and move boxes and products throughout the shift. Safely move carts, pallets, and other merchandise. Work in refrigerated and temperature changing environments. Perform repetitive tasks associated with stocking, preparing, and merchandising produce.
