Job Description

PRODUCE CLERK FLSA
Status:
Non-exempt As a Produce Clerk, you will help to maintain a well-stocked, fresh, and visually appealing produce department. In this role, you will be responsible for stocking fruits and vegetables, rotating inventory to ensure freshness, and keeping displays clean and organized. You will assist customers by answering questions and providing recommendations on produce selection. This position plays a key role in ensuring that our produce department delivers high-quality products and an excellent shopping experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Stock and replenish produce Rotate inventory Inspect produce quality Maintain cleanliness Assist Customers Set up displays Support front-end staff when necessary Monitor and maintain proper storage Handle and prepare produce Operate equipment safely Support inventory management Follow food safety standards Perform all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn about fruits, vegetables and proper handling techniques Strong attention to detail Good customer service and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic math and reading skills Must be able to follow safety and food handling guidelines Previous experience in a grocery or produce department is a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is typically performed in normal grocery store produce department conditions with frequent exposure to coolers, misting systems and damp produce Requires the ability to multi-task Must be available to work a flexible schedule including a variety of shifts, days, evenings, nights, and weekends including overtime, as needed

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach to stock shelves Must have visual and hearing acuity Consistently perform repetitive tasks Ability to use hands and fingers to reach, lift and carry 50 pounds on a regular basis Manual dexterity for the ability to use knives, cutters and other tools for trimming and preparing produce Ability to speak to, hear, and understand others via phone and in person in English
