Job Description

Job Summary:
The Bakery Associate is responsible for assisting with the preparation, merchandising, and sale of all items in the bakery department. This role involves managing product rotation, minimizing shrink and waste, and ensuring optimal presentation of bakery products according to store planograms. The Bakery Associate will handle special merchandising for holidays and promotions, adjust product quantities based on customer traffic forecasts, and maintain a clean and organized workspace. Strong customer service skills, inventory management, and the ability to handle physical tasks are essential for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Preparation and Handling:
Assist with
Fresh Baked Items:
Help prepare and handle fresh baked goods, ensuring items meet quality standards.
Thaw and Sell:
Manage thawing and selling of frozen baked goods, following proper procedures.
Dates and Rotation:
Monitor and manage product dates to ensure freshness. Rotate products to minimize shrinkage and waste.
Slice Items:
Use slicers and knives to slice bakery items as needed for customer service and displays.
Pan Up:
Prepare baking pans and trays for production, ensuring readiness for baking.
Merchandising and Display:
Planogram Compliance:
Merchandise bakery items according to the planogram, making adjustments as necessary for out-of-stock items.
Special Promotions:
Set up and adjust merchandising tables for holidays and special buys.
Product Adjustments:
Adjust the amount of product on tables and shelves based on forecasted foot traffic and sales patterns .
Stock Management:
Work the
Truck:
Unload bakery shipments, lifting boxes and items above your head as needed. Utilize step stools or step ladders to reach high shelves.
Backstock Management:
Organize and replenish backstock, ensuring efficient use of storage space and easy access to items.
Element Exposure:
Work in various environments including freezers, coolers, and back workspaces, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
Inventory Management:
Conduct inventory counts, manage stock levels, and pull shrink. Adjust inventory based on sales trends and product availability.
Ad Planner:
Review the ad planner to ensure all items for upcoming ads are in stock. Communicate any shortages or out-of-stock items with management immediately.
Customer Service:
Customer Interaction:
Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with their bakery needs, answering questions, and offering product recommendations.
Cake Orders:
Take cake orders, ensuring all customer specifications are accurately recorded and fulfilled.
Basic Decorating:
Perform basic cake decorating tasks to meet customer requests and enhance product presentation.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting:
Able to lift boxes up to 50 lbs safely and efficiently, including lifting items above head.
Use of Step Stools/Ladders:
Use step stools or step ladders to reach and handle high shelves.
Cleaning:
Clean dishes and workspaces regularly to maintain a sanitary and organized environment.

Take proactive measures to minimize shrinkage and waste.
Product Rotation:
Ensure proper rotation of products to maintain freshness and quality.
Adjustments:
Make necessary adjustments to product displays and stock levels based on sales trends and customer traffic.

Basic Decorating:
Ability to perform basic cake decorating tasks.

Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to achieve store goals.
Independence:
Ability to work independently without supervision, demonstrating reliability and self-motivation.
Physical Stamina:
Capability to handle physical tasks including lifting, standing for long periods, and cleaning.

May involve occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, particularly during loading and receiving tasks.

Pay:
From $16.00 per hour
