Job Description
Job Summary In this position your main responsibility is cutting, weighing, wrapping, labeling, and merchandising specialty cheeses while maintaining the highest standards of quality, freshness, and food safety. This position not only ensures that cheese cases remain well-stocked and visually appealing but also that the beer and wine shelves remain stocked and clean. You will also assists with inventory and receiving deliveries, and provides knowledgeable customer service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment while following proper sanitation and food handling procedures. Duties Cut, portioned, wrapped, and labeled specialty cheese wheels and rounds while maintaining quality and food safety standards. Received, inspected, and checked in deliveries to verify order accuracy and report discrepancies. Stocked and rotated beer, wine, and specialty cheese inventory using first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory practices. Maintained attractive, fully stocked displays to promote product availability and enhance the customer shopping experience. Monitored inventory levels and replenished merchandise throughout each shift. Assisted customers with product selection, pairing recommendations, and questions about specialty cheeses, craft beers, and wines. Ensured proper storage and temperature control for perishable products. Maintained a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in compliance with food safety and store standards. Operated pallet jacks and safely lifted and moved deliveries weighing up to 50 pounds. Collaborated with team members to support daily department operations and seasonal merchandising. Qualifications Previous retail sales experience preferred, especially in grocery or specialty stores Familiarity with POS systems, cash register operations, and retail math principles Strong communication skills (bilingual is a plus) Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and grocery store operations is advantageous Ability to perform basic math accurately while using a calculator Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and professional phone etiquette Experience in upselling products to maximize sales potential Prior experience with stocking shelves, cashiering, and retail store operations is highly desirable
