Position Summary The Head Stocker supports overnight grocery operations by helping lead the stocking team and ensuring merchandise is stocked accurately, efficiently, and safely. This role works alongside associates to organize freight, maintain shelf conditions, support inventory standards, and ensure the sales floor is clean, organized, and ready for customers. Key Responsibilities Lead and work alongside stocking associates during assigned shifts. Help organize and prioritize freight and stocking assignments. Receive, break down, sort, and stock merchandise in designated areas. Ensure merchandise is stocked accurately and in the correct locations. Rotate products according to established procedures and remove damaged or unsellable merchandise as appropriate. Maintain shelf conditions, product presentation, and merchandising standards. Identify and address out-of-stocks, misplaced merchandise, and stocking discrepancies. Assist with backroom organization and ensure merchandise is stored safely and efficiently. Help maintain clean, organized, and safe sales floor and backroom areas. Provide direction and assistance to stocking associates throughout the shift. Help train new associates on stocking procedures, safety practices, and productivity expectations. Monitor workload progress and communicate priorities to the team. Support efficient completion of freight and assigned stocking responsibilities. Follow safe lifting, stocking, and equipment-operating procedures. Communicate inventory, staffing, equipment, or operational concerns to store leadership. Help ensure aisles are clean, faced, organized, and prepared for customers. Provide courteous customer service when customers are present. Follow company policies, safety standards, security procedures, and applicable food safety requirements. Perform additional duties and assist other departments as business needs require. Leadership Expectations Lead by example and maintain a productive work pace. Work alongside associates to ensure nightly assignments are completed. Provide clear direction and communicate priorities throughout the shift. Encourage teamwork, accountability, and consistent performance. Help associates resolve stocking or merchandising issues. Reinforce proper stocking, rotation, safety, and housekeeping procedures. Communicate incomplete work or significant operational concerns to store leadership. Maintain a professional and respectful work environment. Qualifications Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to provide direction and support to other associates. Ability to prioritize assignments and manage changing workloads. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable and able to maintain productivity in a fast-paced retail environment. Previous grocery, stocking, freight, or retail experience is preferred. Physical and Scheduling Requirements Ability to work overnight or early-morning shifts, including weekends and holidays based on business needs. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and stock merchandise. Ability to perform repetitive stocking and freight-handling activities throughout the shift.
