Temporary - Simulation and Lab Associate Job DescriptionEssential FunctionsSimulation Operations & Maintenance
  • Set up simulation rooms according to established templates and checklists.
  • Create and distribute Zoom links when needed for virtual components.
  • Participate in simulations as a voice actor or standardized participant (SP).
  • Record observations of student performance and provide feedback to facilitating faculty.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, trouble shooting, and repair of equipment (e.g., IV pumps, simulated defibrillators, mannequins).
  • Receive deliveries, stock supplies, maintain inventory, and prepare course-specific materials and supply bins.
  • Assist in the Skills Lab as needed, guiding students in practicing nursing skills and patient care within the scope of a registered nurse following evidence-based practice; hosting skill review workshops and remediations.
Working Relationships
  • Regular interaction with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Collaboration with Simulation Coordinator, Simulation Technician, and Lab Manager.
  • Assist in onboarding new staff and in orienting new faculty to lab equipment, supplies, and procedures. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to provide safe, competent patient care for acutely ill medical-surgical patients using current standards of practice.
  • Working knowledge of the methods, procedures and techniques of nursing work, tools, equipment and materials used in the trade, and hazard/safety precautions; of electronic medical records and current medication delivery methods.
  • Experience performing medical surgical skills including but not limited to injection administration, intravenous infusion, foley insertion, wound care, central line dressing change, and trach care and suctioning.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of medical equipment including but not limited to IV, tube feed, and PCA pumps and associated supplies, hospital beds, defibrillators and AED devices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and ensure accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite. Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Active ed Nurse (RN) license: Maryland or a compact state.
  • Three years of nursing experience in acute care settings. Physical Demands
  • Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a computer, copier, scanner.
  • Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when moving mannequins and/or equipment.
