Job Description
Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Coatings Application Specialist to join our staff at our Brighton, MI location. The candidate will join the Refinish GBT Technology Organization supporting our Refinish coatings businesses. The Application Specialist will be responsible for executing experiments that simulate customer shop conditions for problem resolution and product optimization. Primary Responsibilities Maintain knowledge of Axalta Refinish products, application methods, and performance characteristics. Perform manual spray applications to simulate customer conditions. Prepare, spray, and evaluate refinish samples. Design and conduct experiments to address customer issues and support product development. Document test methods, results, customer investigations, and technical findings. Record and report data using Excel, PowerPoint, and other approved systems. Investigate technical and color-related customer complaints, determine root cause, and communicate findings. Provide technical support on product application, performance, and color matching. Travel to customer and Axalta sites as required. Lead or contribute to cross-functional teams supporting application testing and technical service. Partner with R D, Sales, and Technical Service to resolve issues and support product performance. Comply with Axalta Safety procedures and requirements
Qualifications:
5+ years of application experience with thorough understanding of collision shops products and work practices. Excellent hand spray application skills including blending techniques Ability work with and train technicians in basic and advance paint application skills Understanding of color retrieval software and color measurement Thorough understanding of refinish repair techniques including sanding, body filler, sealing, priming and top coating Thorough understanding of spray equipment used in the refinish industry Proficiency in
