PSI-Polymer Systems is seeking a mechanically inclined, highly organized professional to manage aftermarket sales and customer service for equipment repairs, spare parts, and replacement components. This person will serve as the primary customer contact throughout the repair process - from the initial technical discussion and return authorization through evaluation, quotation, approval, scheduling, and final status updates. This is a full-time, hands-on, on-site position with a Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM schedule. Primary Responsibilities
- Respond to customer repair, service, and spare-parts inquiries by phone and email; gather equipment, application, serial-number, and malfunction information.
- Solicit and contact new and existing customers to identify aftermarket sales, repair, spare-parts, replacement-component, and other sales opportunities.
- Research prior orders, work orders, drawings, and service history to identify equipment configurations, specially made components, and appropriate replacement parts.
- Work with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and sales to determine the recommended repair scope, parts, pricing, lead time, and best course of action.
- Prepare accurate quotations for repairs, spare parts, replacement components, and related equipment; follow up consistently to answer questions and secure approvals.
- Issue return authorization numbers and maintain accurate repair, service, quote, and return-authorization logs.
- Coordinate incoming repair equipment, burnout and evaluation activities, repair scheduling, and customer authorization before work proceeds.
- Create clear evaluation reports with photographs, findings, recommended repairs, and itemized quotations to return equipment to proper operating condition.
- Communicate repair status, delivery schedules, backorders, technical findings, and order updates professionally and proactively.
- Process repair orders, maintain complete CRM and quote records, and coordinate payment or credit-card information with Accounting when required.
- Monitor frequently used parts and recurring service issues; notify Purchasing or Engineering when inventory or design attention may be needed.
- Continue developing detailed knowledge of PSI equipment, customer applications, parts, repair methods, and the plastics extrusion industry. Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and genuine interest in understanding industrial machinery, components, drawings, measurements, and equipment operation.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on industrial/manufacturing environment and learning equipment, components, and repair processes firsthand.
- Experience in technical sales, aftermarket sales, industrial customer service, machinery parts, repair coordination, maintenance, manufacturing, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Ability to translate customer descriptions and technical findings into accurate solutions, professional quotations, and clear written communication.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, CRM/ERP systems, document preparation, and accurate data entry.
- Excellent organization, follow-through, problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple active repairs and quotations independently.
- Professional and confident phone and email communication with customers, including difficult conversations about repair findings, pricing, and schedules.
- Comfortable proactively contacting customers, developing new customer relationships, and pursuing new sales opportunities.
- Ability to read a tape measure and use basic precision measuring tools is preferred; marketing or sales-support experience is a plus.
This position is designed for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, taking ownership of customer needs, developing new sales opportunities, and managing each repair or parts opportunity from start to finish.
