Local Sales Manager FinishWorks is seeking a driven and customer-focused Technical Sales & Service Representative to support business growth throughout the assigned territory. This role combines technical expertise with consultative sales, helping customers improve processes, solve coating-related challenges, and identify opportunities for growth. The ideal candidate will have industrial sales experience, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to work directly with manufacturing customers in the wood finishing and coatings industry. Full Job DescriptionAbout the Role The Technical Sales & Service Representative is responsible for developing new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing customers throughout the assigned territory. This position serves as the face of FinishWorks, combining technical product expertise with strategic sales activities to support customer success and company growth. The successful candidate will identify new prospects, manage customer relationships, provide technical support, conduct product demonstrations, troubleshoot issues, and help customers achieve optimal performance with FinishWorks products. Essential ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development Generate new leads and sales opportunities within the assigned territory. Identify prospects, schedule appointments, conduct sales calls, and manage opportunities through the entire sales cycle. Achieve or exceed sales growth objectives and performance metrics. Support overall sales and profitability goals for assigned accounts and territories. Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying new growth opportunities. Technical Service & Customer Support Develop in-depth knowledge of FinishWorks products and coating systems. Conduct product demonstrations and customer trials. Troubleshoot technical issues and provide practical solutions. Partner with customers to improve coating performance and manufacturing processes. Communicate effectively with internal laboratory and technical teams to support customer needs. Reporting & Communication Maintain accurate customer and activity records within the company CRM system. Submit monthly reports and key account activity reports. Document customer trials, product evaluations, and field observations. Monitor and communicate competitive activity within the marketplace. Work closely with laboratory personnel to coordinate testing and product development efforts. Company Representation Professionally represent FinishWorks with customers, industry organizations, and at trade shows. Attend company meetings, training programs, and other business functions as required. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of related sales experience. Valid driver's license. Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Preferred Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Industrial coatings, paint, chemical coatings, wood finishing, or manufacturing-related sales experience. Experience utilizing CRM systems and managing sales pipelines. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong customer relationship and account management skills. Excellent presentation and communication abilities. Self-motivated and results-oriented work ethic. Ability to analyze customer challenges and develop effective solutions. Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CRM software. Ability to understand technical products and manufacturing processes. Physical Requirements This role requires frequent travel and regular movement throughout manufacturing and customer facilities. Candidates must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, and kneel as needed. The position requires regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Work Environment Work is performed primarily within customer manufacturing facilities, laboratories, distribution centers, and business locations where coatings and finishing products are used. Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided, and all employees are expected to follow applicable safety requirements and guidelines.
