Job Description
Summary The Field Technology Specialist is responsible for supporting the deployment, maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of technology assets used throughout McLane's retail, warehouse, and transportation operations. This role serves as a key resource for provisioning mobile devices, managing hardware repairs and replacements, maintaining asset inventory, and coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure teammates have reliable technology that supports business operations. This position is on site in Temple TX. What You'll Do Provision, configure, and deploy Smart Handheld devices, including iPads and associated peripherals, for new store implementations and replacement requests. Coordinate the replacement of damaged, lost, or malfunctioning devices to minimize business disruption. Troubleshoot and manage repair processes for rugged warehouse devices, including barcode scanners, label printers, charging stations, and related peripherals. Open, track, and manage vendor RMAs while monitoring repair and replacement activities. Support the repair, replacement, and inventory management of driver-issued mobile devices. Manage the lifecycle of laptops, desktops, and related technology assets, including provisioning, deployment, refreshes, recoveries, and equipment returns. Maintain accurate records of inventory, asset assignments, shipments, repairs, and device status using enterprise asset management tools. Coordinate with vendors, carriers, field technicians, distribution centers, and internal support teams to resolve device and technology issues. Package, ship, receive, and process technology equipment while ensuring proper documentation and asset accountability. Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree, technical certification, or related education preferred. 1+ years of experience in IT support, device support, field technology, asset management, or a related technical operations environment. Working knowledge of mobile devices, handheld technology, laptops, desktops, scanners, printers, and related peripherals. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues. Experience with asset management, inventory control, and device lifecycle management processes. Familiarity with Jira, ServiceNow, Intune, or similar service management and device administration platforms preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy. Experience supporting retail, warehouse, logistics, transportation, or distribution center operations is preferred.
