Work Schedule TBD Sensitive Position No Job Description Mountain Gateway Community College ( MGCC ) is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge. MGCC provides opportunities for the extension of knowledge, skills and personal enrichment in an environment that maintains high academic standards and respect for each individual. On-site and distance learning options incorporate up-to-date technologies. The Technical Services Support Specialist provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to the Technical Services Department and the broader user community. This position assists with troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and support of computer hardware, networking equipment, and related technology systems. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate equipment inventory records and supporting the organization's computer replacement schedule. The successful candidate will provide responsive, professional, and customer-focused technical assistance to faculty, staff, students, and other users. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The successful candidate should possess: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. A service-oriented approach to supporting faculty, staff, students, and other users. The ability to troubleshoot technical problems systematically and efficiently. Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping skills. The ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing technical environments. The ability to work effectively with users who have varying levels of technical expertise. The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of responsiveness and professionalism. Associate Degree or equivalent education and experience; 1 to 2 years related technical experience; display professional deportment at all times
