Responsibilities Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles according to traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition, including checking mechanical systems and safety equipment Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor while communicating clearly with students, parents, school staff, and colleagues Manage behavior effectively to promote a safe and respectful environment on the bus Follow designated routes and schedules precisely, adjusting as needed for traffic or weather conditions Assist students with boarding and disembarking, including those with special needs or requiring childcare support Complete accurate logs of trips, incidents, and vehicle maintenance reports Qualifications Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement; experience in bus driving preferred Proven ability to operate vehicles safely in various conditions; experience with school bus driving or paratransit services is highly desirable Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues Experience working with children or in childcare environments; understanding of behavior management techniques Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable attitude Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively; familiarity with safety protocols for senior care or special needs transportation is advantageous Embark on a fulfilling career where your driving skills meet your passion for working with children!
