Principal Position Summary The School Nurse will provide health services to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide nursing care to students and staff. Conduct required health screenings and notifies parents when further medical evaluation is indicated. Maintain current cumulative medical records on all students. Implement individual student health care plans and participate in IEP development when applicable. Administer medication and nursing care procedures as prescribed by the student's physician. Participate with district/school staff in developing and implementing the total school health program. Provide health related information and resources to students, staff and parents as needed. Actively participate in school safety plans. Attend committee meetings and trainings regarding health service and health curriculum. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) license CPR and First Aid Certification required Pediatric and/or emergency medicine experience preferred Clean background check Oral and written communication skills Ability to operate office equipment such as a computer, printer, fax machine, and telephone Physical requirements Be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time Be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach and lift (up to 50 lbs.) Physically assist students as needed
