Blue High School Job Goal(s): To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school counseling office. The secretary is the initial point of contact between students, parents, and school counselors. They must be adept at meeting people and be extremely tactful in all dealings with the public. They are a public relations agent for the school, serving as both a receptionist and the custodian of the school records that interest parents and school personnel. The secretary often deals with confidential material and is involved with or has knowledge of confidential information; as such, he/she must be a person of complete integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times. Priorities for his/her work will be determined by the principal or school counselors. Qualifications Receptionist and telephone skills Typing, bookkeeping, filing, and computer skills, as necessary for the position Basic knowledge of office machines Certifications Maine DOE Background Check (CHRC) More information regarding Fingerprinting & Background Checks
Performance Responsibilities:
General Generates a variety of materials, including letters, student records, reports, memos, and monthly statements. Verifies totals on report forms, requisitions, etc., and proofread work as requested. Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive and smoothly run office. Receives and routes incoming calls. Prepares those reports and statements as required by the District. Performs any other tasks which may justly be classified as secretarial or clerical, as determined by the assistant principal/principal.
Performance Responsibilities:
Specific Operates computer software to assist the assistant principal/principal in maintaining student schedules, making adjustments as necessary over the school year. Processes all approved adjustments in student schedules over the school year. Generates reports for teachers, administrators and parents. Organizes, maintains, corrects and distributes attendance records for the school. Distributes locks to teachers/students and maintains records to identify and track lost locks. Assists the school counselors in preparing and revising school publications, i.e., course books, handbooks, etc. Assists, organizes,honor roll lists, ineligible lists for each quarter. Provides secretarial support to school counselor. Prepares student lists for various district schools and departments, i.e., bus garage, high school, guidance department, library, volunteer coordinator and migrant teacher.   • High School Diploma Working Schedule School Year Only + 10 days Travel Requirements Travel between schools or district buildings may be required for certain positions

Terms of Employment:
As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation:
By Assistant Principal and/or Principal, once during probationary period and then annually after probation ends.

Non-exempt
