Description Job Title Climate Resilience Technician Location Fairbanks, AK, US Organization Name Tribal Government and Client Services Job Summary Job Summary:
The Climate Resilience Technician will assist project manager and affiliated staff with the collection of land management and community information to address the goals and objectives of the Climate Resilience Regional Challenge (CRRC) project in collaboration with ANTHC. Duties will be focused on consolidation of land survey data and community infrastructure documentation to improve mapping components and climate adaptation planning documents. Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.

Representative Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the
Cadastral Survey Manager:
1. Provides field and office assistance to project manager, GIS coordinator and affiliated TCC professional staff and collaborating partners working on the CRRC project. 2. Coordinates with project manager and affiliated staff on planning field survey travel to rural communities and facilitates with the process of data collection of land and associated project data. This work may include coordination with state and federal partners to determine the types of field data required by collaborating partners. 3. Works with Tribal government staff on coordination of field studies and community meetings to obtain relevant information addressing mapping and climate adaptation information gathering. 4. Assists in managing and consolidating information related to GIS mapping, hazard mitigation plan preparation and climate adaptation planning to address project goals and objectives. Technical report writing and geospatial data management that addresses project goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
1. Experience conducting field studies in Interior Alaska and familiarity with Alaska Native villages. Working experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, land surveying, community planning, or related work experience. Some post-secondary education preferred. 2. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements and State of Alaska background check.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
1. General knowledge of remote field studies in Interior Alaska and in rural villages. 2. Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software applications, and ARCGIS online. 3. Experience working as a field crew member in remote settings in Interior Alaska. 4. Expert working knowledge of digital technology, GPS, digital photography, technical recordation of these types of recording devices. 5. Ability to work with professional resources and engineering staff and tribal leadership on information gathering related to climate adaptation planning and related environmental studies.
Supervision:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Supervision Physical demands:
This position requires the ability to travel to villages and temporarily live in villages to acquire geospatial and community adaptation data. Frequent travel within Alaska is necessary, often in small fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) lbs. Additionally, you may be exposed to biting insects, inclement weather conditions, hazardous working environments, and occasional extreme weather conditions.
Summation Summation:
The Climate Resilience Technician will support all activities under the CRRC grant to acquire new land and resources data important for completing hazard mitigation plans and GIS modeling of village footprints around TCC villages. The position will include office preparation for field studies and summary of data collected in collaboration with project staff, tribal leadership and CRRC partners (state and federal). The incumbent would work with a diverse team of resources staff, engineers and project managers relating to the geography and related built environment mapping and information needs for long-term climate adaptation planning that supports rural village sustainability.
