Researches reference merials such as Ste and Nional register files, historic documents, archeological reports, maps and aerial photos, and interviews source individuals concerning project areas. Performs on-the-ground area surveys for surface and subsurface evidence of historic and prehistoric archeological remains. Identifies and records historic and prehistoric cultural resource sites. Performs a variety of computions and assessments of standard archeological da, such as entering archeological artifact and projects da in approprie forms and dabases. Produces site and survey maps. Transfers GPS da to a GIS Arc View program loaded in a computer to cree a map. Conducts cultural resource surveys of areas designed for various projects. Records sites and monitors affected sites during these project activities. Ensures th archeology work assignments are carried out in safe, timely manner according to established standards and procedures. Reviews work in progress to see th standards for pre-field research, survey design, site recording, graphics, and final report are being met. Advises other employees on methods of cultural resource inventory and provides written instructions, research merials and supplies to all involved in planning and operion of nural resource activities. Assisted in processing and caloging recovered archaeological artifacts and reled merials. Used a compass, topographical maps, and/or GPS unit to find boundaries of archeological survey areas and for recording archeological survey areas and for recording archaeological sites. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience th transles directly to paid employment.
