Applicants may have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR A combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the position. To qualify for the GS-12: Applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service. You must meet 3 of the 4 bullets listed below: Working with planning teams to develop and coordinate cultural resource compliance strategies for projects and activities. Conducting cultural resource background research, surveys, and monitoring to comply with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Section 106. Developing and implementing tribal consultation plans, coordinating environmental and cultural resource studies, and preparing documents in compliance with cultural resource related laws and regulations. Conducting archeological surveys, record sites, field analysis of artifacts, making determinations of eligibility, perform archeological monitoring, write survey and monitoring reports, and communicate results to stakeholders to comply with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Section 106. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education If you are relying on your education to meet qualification requirements: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications.
