In this vital role you will be a member of a team involved in the discovery of innovative biological therapeutics. This team is applying state-of-art experimental technologies that are transforming the way we discover and develop new medicines for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Using state-of-the-art Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) instruments, you will implement and execute high throughput binding affinity characterization on biologics from generative biology, which plays a critical role in Amgen's drug discovery pipeline. In addition to affinity characterization, you will be expected to determine cross-species selectivity and implement experiments to study mechanism of action when related to binding interactions. You should be meticulous and proficient in generating and analyzing scientific data, and will be expected to communicate the results clearly, both orally and in written form. You will be able to work collaboratively with other scientists, within and across functions. You will be expected to interface with our Computational Sciences Group to develop ML/AI models that improve molecular attributes, such as binding activities. Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD [and relevant post-doc where applicable] OR Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience OR Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge in protein chemistry, cell biology, biophysics, and experience in binding analysis using Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). Demonstrated excellent laboratory working ethic and skills, excellent communication skills (both written and oral). Demonstrated flexibility, ingenuity, and problem-solving capability, as well as a strong ability to multi-task. Hands-on experience in lab automation, such as Bravo, Hamilton, biochemical and cellular assays using advanced instruments. Knowledge and hands-on experience in membrane protein generation and characterization are highly desirable. Demonstrated capabilities of bridging experimentation with computational modeling and ML activities. The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
