Quarry was co-founded by Yale Professor Craig Crews and ex-Pfizer leader Mikael Dolsten, and has a leadership team with deep expertise in molecular glue and bifunctional small molecule drugs, platform innovation, and company building. Quarry is funded by top-tier venture firms. Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated and independent scientist to join our team. This position offers a strategic and hands-on opportunity to contribute to multiple preclinical programs and the development of proximity-inducing small molecule drugs. The candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, present findings to the leadership team, and make a meaningful impact on the company's portfolio and on patient health. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in DNA-encoded library screening and demonstrate dedication and urgency in a fast-moving biotech environment. This position reports to the Associate Director, Biophysics and will be located in New Haven, CT. Principal Responsibilities Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Leverage expertise in DEL selections to discover and validate molecular glues through protein capture assays, selection workflows, and biophysical assays
  • Set up the lab for internal DEL selections from reagent validation through NGS sample preparation
  • Collaborate with biology, chemistry and computational team members to build mechanistically driven selection strategies
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders on DEL data processing and analysis
  • Communicate strategy and key findings cross-functionally to drive projects from hit identification into hit-to-lead
  • Evaluate new assay technologies (SPR, TR-FRET, etc.) in support of compound characterization Qualifications
  • PhD/Postdoc with 3-5 years experience or BS/MS with 15-20 years experience
  • Deep knowledge of DEL selections, sample preparation, and data processing
  • Ability to work independently and drive multiple, simultaneous screening campaigns
  • Understanding of best practices in hit identification and validation with an enthusiasm to participate beyond the hit discovery phase
  • Previous biophysical or biochemical assay experience is a plus
  • This role includes laboratory-based work so being on-site in New Haven, CT full-time is required
