Beam is seeking a highly talented and motivated Co-op to join our growing Gene Editing Platform Technologies team from January through June 2027 . The Gene Editing Platform Technologies Co-op will closely coordinate with expert Scientists within the team to aid in the engineering and optimization of gene editing systems that meet the needs of Beam's diverse therapeutic programs. Together with project leads, this individual will co-develop experimental plans, generate reagents, evaluate reagent performance in mammalian cell culture, analyze data, integrate learnings, and present the impactful findings to key stakeholders within the research and discovery pipeline. This exciting opportunity provides unique exposure to a broad cross-section of Beam's research platform teams and therapeutic-area biology teams, where a highly collaborative individual will thrive.Responsibilities:
Maintain continuous coordination with project leaders to ensure needs are met on an ongoing basis. Ensure precise adherence to provided laboratory protocols. Maintain accurate and compliant electronic laboratory notebook documentation. Perform routine mammalian cell culture maintenance activities. Support reagent generation, including small-scale mRNA production in a high-throughput environment. Conduct mammalian cell transfection and genomic DNA isolation experiments. Perform electronic sample registration and submission for NGS analysis. Analyze and interpret data in collaboration with project leaders. Present data, results, and key learnings in a variety of meeting formats.Qualifications:
Pursuing a BA/BS c /MS in a life science with at least 1 year of laboratory experience in an academic group (outside of coursework) or in industry. Proficiency in molecular biology and cell culture workflows such as sterile technique, PCR, cell transfection, etc . Excellent organizational, time management, oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in use of general bioinformatic and data analysis visualization and design tools such as Benchling , Geneious , GraphPad Prism, Microsoft excel, etc . Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting college or university program and maintain their student status throughout the duration of the co-op to be eligible. Hourly pay will will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. Co-op Hourly Pay Range $23 - $34 USDBenefits
