Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics within the New Jersey Medical School ( NJMS ). Under the direction of Principal Investigator, the Post-Doctoral Associate will study how gut microbiota-derived metabolites regulate immune responses in type 1 diabetes (T1D) and other autoimmune conditions. Our research focuses on identifying specific microbial metabolites that are altered before disease onset and defining the molecular mechanisms by which these metabolites control T cell activation, cytokine production, and target tissue destruction. Using mouse models, primary human immune cells, and patient samples, we aim to uncover microbiota-based strategies for preventing or treating autoimmunity. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Performs independent research involving primary T cell culture, flow cytometry, in vivo mouse models, and molecular immunology techniques under the PI's guidance. Meets with the principal investigator to establish goals and objectives for autoimmunity-related projects. Communicates regularly with the P.I. regarding experimental progress and project direction. Maintains detailed and accurate experimental records, including electronic lab notebooks. Supervises and trains lower level staff (technicians, students) in laboratory techniques, animal colony maintenance, and IACUC compliance. FLSA Exempt Grade Salary Details Minimum salary: $63,968 Minimum Salary 20,000 Mid Range Salary 90,000 Maximum Salary 200,000 Offer Information The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position.
