The Borland Lab in the Department of Biobehavioral Health at The Pennsylvania State University ( http://bbh.hhd.psu.edu/ ) is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar.
The research involves:
investigating the neural mechanisms regulating reward for social interactions in a laboratory rodent model. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Performing research experiments (e.g. social behavior testing with adult Syrian hamsters, brain tissue collection, histology, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope, Western blots, stereotaxic surgery, AAV delivery, fiber photometry and optogenetics). Laboratory management, including IACUC, IBC and DEA record keeping/inspections. Statistical analysis Primary drafting of peer-reviewed manuscripts Presentation at national and international conferences Mentorship of undergraduate and doctoral students
Necessary Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related field. Due to data access restrictions, this position is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and foreign nationals, but all applicants must have resided in the U.S. for three of the past five years (36 of the past 60 months). The expected duration of this appointment is one year with potential for renewal based on fit and funding availability. Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
