Newly posted Job Description Summary A Staff Scientist in Synthetic Organic/Medicinal Chemistry is available at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. The Staff Scientist is expected to have a PhD degree and a track record of publications in the field. The main job duties are to design and synthesize compounds and evaluate biochemical or cellular activity for the treatment of cancer, stroke and other diseases. Job Duties Under the general direction of the
Principal Investigator:
Designs and synthesizes compounds that are potential inhibitors of chemical probes of proteins implicated in cancer or other diseases Test compounds' activities in a biochemical and/or cellular assay Analyzes experimental data and report results Writes technical reports and manuscripts Plans, directs and conducts research experiments Evaluates and analyzes data Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects May conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators May supervise, schedule and coordinate the activities of less experienced research staff Performs other job related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree. Three years of post doctoral research experience.
