Division College of Medicine Department 720600 - Physiology and Cell Biology Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years professional experience in a public health, medical, clinical, or research laboratory. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with animal models preferred. Job Description Summary The University of South Alabama's Physiology & Cell Biology department is seeking to hire a Research Associate II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered. Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position. Essential Functions Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, performs highly responsible and independent professional laboratory work. Designs and conducts live lung imaging experiments using confocal and multi-photon microscopy. Performs advanced biological analyses focused on mitochondrial regulation of lung physiology. Develops experimental protocols and analyzes complex datasets. Prepares manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and presents findings at scientific meetings. Mentors and supervises lower level laboratory personnel. Manages laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, supply ordering, and safety compliance. Follows appropriate animal handling procedures and protocols. Ensures proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and toxic materials. Regular and prompt attendance. Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; weekends as needed. Related duties as required.
