A Physiologist studies cell, plant or animal life systems, including human anatomy, and studies the effects of outside agents on the human body. May teach physiology, work with patients in clinical settings, or do research in a specialized area of physiology, including vaccine or pharmaceutical development.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Instruct students in the assigned discipline. Assignment may include teaching courses during the day, evening, and/or off-campus sites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must meet one of the following: Most current Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in
California Community Colleges:
Master's in any biological science OR Bachelor's in any biological science AND Master's in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR the equivalent. (Academic Affairs Division, California Community Colleges)
Antelope Valley College Equivalency:
No Antelope Valley College Equivalency AND a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (Assembly Bill ; Education Code)
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
A specialization in Anatomy and Physiology as evidenced by relevant coursework in one or both fields Previous community college or college level teaching experience, including graduate teaching assistantships in anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of and experience with current anatomy laboratory materials and methods that includes the use of animal and cadaver specimens. Laboratory experiences that demonstrate knowledge of current methods used in designing and teaching hands-on human and animal physiology experiments, including the ability to use a variety of equipment for the acquisition and analysis of physiological data. Knowledge in developing and implementing innovative teaching methods, including inquiry-based learning into the curriculum, is highly desired.
